“The expert in anything was once a beginner.”
Such true words, yet it’s sort of humbling to think about. Who likes to be the worst at something? Or the newest? Or the slowest? I know I don’t. I feel MUCH more confident and sure of myself when I’ve been around the block a few times. There’s a certain comfortability of knowing what to do and how to do it without having to ask any questions. Maybe that’s why some people stick with a job that they’re not too crazy about. Or why it can be scary to up and move to a new place where you don’t even know anyone… let alone where the local grocery store is. We inherently want to stick to what we know, because it’s easier.
But just because we’re comfortable with something doesn’t mean we’re supposed to stick with it. I’m comfortable running five miles, but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t try for thirteen. I’m comfortable getting the same you-pick-two at Panera every time I eat there, but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t branch out every once in a while. (Bad examples? Okay, moving on..)
I was comfortable at my engineering job, but I was yearning for more creativity and social interactions in my life. I’m a beginner at blogging, but that just means I have so much more to learn! Remember this quote from A Cinderella Story? (Def in my top ten movies list!!!)
“Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.”
Yes!!! I love this part of the movie. It’s such a great message. You never know what you’ll learn, who you’ll meet, or where you’ll go if you never play the game.
Side note: I’m trying something new called “Thursday Thoughts”… any thoughts on it? hehe. Let me know what you think!
Happy Thursday y’all, thanks for reading!
P.S. does anyone want to watch A Cinderella Story with me now??
