Happy Friday!
We have 25 sleeps left until Christmas.
…I’m just going to let that one sink in for a minute.
I’m still trying to figure out where this year went and how I feel about the fact that it’s almost over. This year was one of the busiest years I’ve had. Starting a blog, planning a wedding, and buying a fixer upper are all very time consuming things haha. But it has also been a year of growth!
I grew up in Tennessee always knowing who I was and what I wanted to do with my time. I never really questioned my direction in life until I moved to Colorado. After I moved to Boulder and got my first real 8-5 job, I was so confused about who I was, why I was in Colorado, and where God wanted me (job-wise and location-wise). In fact, I actually accepted a job in Montana at one point! (But obviously ended up staying in Boulder haha)
This past year I was able to find a happy balance with engineering & personal life, which is something I truly never thought was possible. I won’t get into the details, but around this time one year ago (almost to the day) I made some changes in my life & my job that literally made me feel like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. All of the sudden, waking up and going to work was a joy. Now I am happy to say that both my engineering & blogging work motivates me & gives me life instead of dragging me down.
This might sound heavy (sometimes life is!), but if you are going through a tough time and can see what the root of your issue is, I want to encourage you to make a change in the area of life that is bringing you down. There are times when we just have to wait out the tough seasons, and that is okay. BUT sometimes (maybe all the time…) we have to take that first step to build & cultivate our own opportunities instead of waiting for one to show up at our door.
Now heres some monumental advice & motivation for ya:
you can control where you go in life.
Just make sure you say a prayer (or five) before doing anything drastic ha!
I want to challenge you to think about two things:
1. what stresses you out the most
2. how you can practically change that thing.
Then pray.

Anddd now onto the outfit. That thing I’m wearing that looks like a poncho? It’s actually called a ruana. I like it a little better than ponchos because my arms are free haha! Below I’ve rounded up a few of my favorites for this time of year!
Which ruana is your favorite? I love how easy these are to throw on, plus they are a fun way to change up your outfit!
On another note… tomorrow is December 1st! Ah! Be sure to check out my gift guides (more to come) HERE!
Thanks so much for reading!
