Hi friends! If you follow me on Instagram, you may remember that a few weeks ago Ryan and I had a fun little getaway to Colorado Springs. Neither of us had really explored the area before, so this was a destination that was on both of our bucket lists! Friday afternoon we drove about 2 hours to stay at the Garden of the Gods Resort, and it was truly a dream. El Paso county is one of those areas that is just breath taking and almost unreal! We were able to stay for two nights, and it was the perfect amount of time to explore the area and just have some fun in a new place.
Today I am SO excited to share a review of theGarden of the Gods Resort with you! If you are looking for a beautiful and FUN place to spend a few days, this resort would be perfect – below I’m highlighting why I cannot wait to visit again.
the room
Our room was spacious, comfortable, and on the first floor, which made it so convenient to explore the grounds (more on that later!) Typically when I go on vacation, I have trouble falling asleep.. however I had no trouble conking out as soon as I laid down. The king size bed was extremely comfortable and felt like home to me.
I was thoroughly impressed with the shear amount of space in our room. With the walk in closet, two sinks, a large bath area, and a mini kitchen, we felt like we were in our own little home. We also had a fireplace definitely utilized that once the spring snow storm hit! (Which was so cozy btw!)
As soon as we checked in, we felt taken care of. The front desk immediately made sure we were aware of all the amenities & locations (i.e. the spa, fitness room, tennis courts, infinity pool, etc.) The staff was even kind enough to include a fruit and cheese platter with red wine for us. Talk about the BEST way to start off a weekend getaway! I LIVE for cheese & fruit platters, y’all!
the grounds
We had so much fun walking around the resort itself! Aside from the spectacular views of the Garden of the Gods, the entire resort is just fun to explore. One of my favorite moments was watching the snow fall by the outdoor fire pits on the back porch. It was so peaceful and relaxing.
the spa
The Strata Integrated Wellness Spa was one of the nicest spas I have been to. Ryan and I enjoyed a couple’s massage, which I would highly recommend if you are going for a weekend getaway with your spouse! Included in our couples massage was champagne and chocolate covered strawberries.. talk about heaven! The spa’s Relaxation Room, which is a large, tranquil area, includes nuts & berries. One of my favorite parts of the spa was the traditional high heat Salt Room (pictured above.) It was so nice to take some time to relax and actually enjoy the sauna!
the food
Let me just start by saying.. I’m STILL full from all the amazing food we ate that weekend. I kid, I kid! 😉 In all seriousness, the meals we had were phenomenal. On Friday night, we enjoyed a bottle of wine and dinner at the Grand View Dining Room. The rack of elk (pictured above) was beyond what I expected! It came with kale salad, lentils, and beets, and the combination of flavors was surprising & delicious. Ryan ordered the salmon with a side of asparagus.. another hit! We ended the night with chocolate lava cake and the bee hive (recommended by the staff) both we just out of this world. Trust me, if you ever go the the Grand View, you have to order the chocolate lava cake!
I also found my new favorite cocktail while we were there! The Superfood Cocktail is exactly what it sounds like – kale juice, cucumber juice, maple syrup, lemon zest.. & gin! It was honestly the most refreshing cocktail I’ve ever had!
We started our day Sunday morning with brunch at the Resort, and again it did not disappoint. The blueberry pancakes (with quinoa!) were so tasty and filling! The dining room overlooks the Garden of the Gods, so we were able to take in that view one last time while we ate our final meal at the resort.
Whether you are looking for a spot for a girls’ trip or a weekend getaway with your man, I could not recommend the Garden of the Gods Resort more. There are some incredible hiking trails just down the road, and downtown Colorado Springs is a quick drive away. With the hospitable service, incredible meals, and gorgeous views that will take your breath away, the Garden of the Gods Resort will far surpass any expectations you may have!
