Good afternoon friends! I hope everyone’s summer is off to a great start! 🙂 I can’t believe it’s already June. Wonderful news on the homefront though is that our drywallers will be DONE tomorrow! I haven’t shared our new fixer on the blog yet, but if you’d like to see what we’re doing to our new fixer upper, check out my instagram page and watch my highlight titled “New Home.”
Today I’m excited to share our living + dining areas in our old fixer. We chose to add a shiplap accent wall in both areas. I think the accent walls help define each space even though it’s an open floorpan.
This space was really a blank slate when we bought the house, which was fun because we could make it anything we wanted! We toyed with the idea of adding an electric fireplace but ended up choosing built in bookshelves with a small seating area instead. Check out the process of how we designed and installed the built ins here & here.
One thing I regret not doing in this space is adding a chandelier over the dining room table. It would have been a nice way to define the space as a dining area. At the same time, the space was on the smaller size, and not having a hanging fixture there did make it feel bigger.
Next week I’m sharing the before and after of our master bedroom! Stay tuned! 🙂
