Well I can honestly say this is the first room to be completely decorated in our house!! It’s such a great feeling to have one room checked off the long list of to-dos. Is it perfect? NO! But that’s OKAY! I still would love to repaint and hang a new fan or light fixture. But…
As I’ve learned since having our son Ben (who just turned one!) time is a precious thing. It never stops; it simply keeps going. How we spend the little moments every day shape our lives, and I love seeing our son grow, learn, and develop. That obviously leaves less time for me, our house, and my hobbies. I’ve had to learn to let go of perfection and be happy with whatever I can accomplish in the short amount of “extra” time I have during the day.
One of my favorite sayings lately is “done is better than perfect.” Although I wasn’t able to add a new coat of paint and install a new light fixture immediately, this room still turned out SO cozy and beautiful!
I found these curtains at Target and I’m so in love with them. They really change the look of the room. We have 9′ ceilings, so I got 95″ long curtains. I’m also really excited about these $30 lamps I found. They’re great quality, and the lamp shade is included! It’s a really pretty neutral grey base that’s pretty versatile.
This Serena & Lily Willowmere Hand-Knotted rug is such a great buy IMO. It’s definitely a splurge, but it you want a DURABLE rug, this is it. It’s also really soft!! It’s not super thick, but if you put a thick pad underneath it, it would definitely be cozy. We had it in our old house’s entryway for a year and it held up wonderfully! As you can see in the picture below, there’s no pilling at all, and it was in a really high traffic area right by our front door and kitchen.
I am excited to share more as we continue to check more off our list! And if you’re a mom like me, remember to give yourself grace and celebrate the small stuff. 😉
