26 Things for My 26th Birthday

Hey friends! It’s hump dayyy… and it’s also my bday! Since I turn 26 today, I thought it’d be fun to share 26 things about me that y’all probably don’t PLUS some goals I want to accomplish in the next 26 years! I feel like year 25 absolutely flew by (that’s what planning a wedding will do you lol), so I’m excited to see how my first year as a married woman goes!

throwback to when i turned 4!

Things about me:

  1. I’m 5’10 and rarely wear heels!
  2. Manchester, TN is my hometown (the home of Bonnaroo)
  3. I took gymnastics through senior year and can do a round-off back-handspring.
  4. After graduating with a civil engineering degree from UTK, I moved to Vail to be a ski bum!
  5. I love snow skiing but am terrible at water skiing!
  6. Ryan and I watch The Office on repeat – we’ve probably seen every episode 20 times. It’s actually playing as I type this.
  7. I’m obsessed with running and will/have run in any temperature!
  8. I HATE running on the treadmill!
  9. Ryan and I met in a small group at church, and it was totally obvious that I had a crush on him.
  10. I decided to start a blog while driving with Ryan from NC to my parent’s house in TN last Thanksgiving.
  11. I work part-time as a structural engineer and part time as a stylist at Evereve. I love both of my jobs!
  12. I love doing meal prep – chicken & quinoa with a kale and avocado salad is what I eat for lunch almost every day.
  13. I begin every day with coffee. Always have and always will.
  14. I worked in Yellowstone National Park one summer and loved every minute of it.
  15. My go-to drink is a glass of red wine.
  16. I like the mountains in the summer better than the winter.
  17. I’m dying for a puppy!!!
  18. I think upstate NY is one of the most beautiful places I’ve been. It’s where both my mom and dad are from.
  19. Ryan and I want four kids! (we think!)
  20. My nickname growing up was/is Elizababe!

Goals:

  1. Raise a family with my man.
  2. Go to the Australian Open and watch Roger Federer play
  3. Run one half-marathon a year (health allowing)
  4. Throw a surprise anniversary party for my parents (hope they’re not reading this…)
  5. Watch UT beat Florida (this one’s been on my list since freshman year… #govols)
  6. **Successfully study for and pass the PE (Professional Engineer) exam next April in California.

**IF you saw my post on Instagram, you may be wondering what my “biggest goal” is that has to do with engineering and California! Well…

If you’re not familiar with Civil / Structural engineers (i don’t blame you lol), then you probably don’t know that getting your PE license is a major career goal! In Colorado, an engineer must work for four years before they can sit for the exam. However, in California only two years of experience are required to be eligible to sit for the exam. It’s known to be a more difficult exam, but I’m ready to study my behind off and see how it goes! If you can’t tell – I’m impatient and don’t want to wait until I have four years of experience haha.

Basically, getting licensed is a huge milestone for an engineer! My brother just passed his last year.
