I don’t know about y’all, but there’s something about going for a drive on a backroad that’s really freeing for me. In high school, my best friend and I would drive backroads all the time. Sometimes I’d take the long way home simply because I could, and I would really savor those ten extra minutes of alone time (i.e my time to recharge!)
A few weeks ago Ryan and I got up early to enjoy a sunrise over an Aspen grove (okay, TBH we were 20 minutes late and missed the actual sunrise) BUT the views were spectacular. It was a Sunday morning, and we felt like we were going to “God’s church” and appreciating all the beauty that He’s created.
One of the most magical things about being on a backroad is the fact that it’s just you and the road and the radio (until another car comes along lol). There’s something therapeutic about taking each turn as it comes and knowing that it takes time to get where you’re going.
Another reason this simple activity soothes my soul: no screens. You’re driving, so being on social media isn’t really an option. The best thing is finding a backroad with no service. It’s refreshing to pull off the road, sit still, talk to your loved one or the Lord, and listen to the wind blow through the trees.

Okay, onto the outfit! I love this dress because it’s extremely comfortable yet super flattering. I used to be kinda scared to mix black and brown, but now I’m all about it!
I’ve had these boots for about a year now, and although they are an investment, they are worth it. If you take care of them right (<— that was like my second blog post ever so don’t judge me too hard ha!) they’ll be fine if they get a little wet or scuffed up. I’m always amazed by how new my boots look after I give them a good cleaning.
One key accessory for fall is a warm + versatile scarf. An outfit can totally change based on what scarf you have on!
