Last weekend Ryan and I took a quick getaway from Boulder and drove about 45 minutes to stay at the Dove Inn in Golden, Colorado. This was one of the first “staycations” we’ve had in a while, (ie. since we bought our house lol) and it was nice to get away and explore a bit of Golden. The drive from Boulder to Golden is beautiful – the road follows the foothills and the views are even prettier with a fresh blanket of snow!
Before I get into the details, I want to set the scene of the Dove Inn for y’all. It’s actually a house – the upstairs is where all the rooms are, and the downstairs houses the kitchen and lobby / living area. There is no front desk, so you can come and go as you please. We received an email letting us know when our room was ready with a key code to both the front door to the Inn & a separate one for our room.
the living area
The inn has a gorgeous rustic vibe, and it gave me all the home decor inspo as we decorate our own home! Literally every corner was “instagram worthy,” so forgive me if I go picture crazy in this post haha.
The living area had plenty of couches and chairs for a large gathering, and we talked about how fun it would be to have a family reunion there and play board games. We had the pleasure of meeting the other guests in the lobby who were in town for a wedding. That’s one of the neat features of the Dove Inn – you can be as social or unsocial as you want haha!
the kitchen
Ryan and I enjoyed a glass of wine at the kitchen counter before eating dinner out on Saturday night, and it was nice to sit together and enjoy the place to ourselves. We ate dinner at Indulge Bistro, and I would highly recommend it. It was only one block away, and the KC martini was delish!
It truly felt like we could live there! The kitchen is fully stocked with ingredients like flour, sugar, salt, etc.; and all the tools you need are there too (like a mixer, measuring cups, etc.)
Another cool thing about the kitchen is that the fridge has beverages and snacks ready for you! Even though the management is very “hands off,” the Dove Inn still feels extremely personal and like a home away from home. I almost felt like I was at my mom’s house with such a stocked kitchen!
If you are a coffee lover, then you will appreciate this – there is a coffee bar that’s available 24/7. 😉 That includes a coffee grinder, a French press, cold brew on tap, and a Keurig! It was another sweet personal touch that made it feel like home.
our room – the serenity suite
This was basically my dream bedroom because there was so much shiplap!! If you follow me on Instagram, then you know I LOVE shiplap haha. The king bed in the Serenity Suite was super comfortable, and there were SO MANY pillows which is something I definitely appreciate.
The Dove Inn also provides a wine bottle opener & glasses if you are so inclined to crack open a bottle during your stay.
Now onto my favorite part – the bathroom!
The his and her sinks, the gorgeous tile floor, the bathtub of my dreams, and the spacious shower.. it all comes together to make the perfect space.
Whether you are looking for the perfect spot for a girl’s weekend, a romantic getaway, or a family reunion, the Dove Inn is a convenient and beautiful option. The prime downtown location makes it easy to walk around, explore the city, and enjoy Golden by foot. Red Rocks is also only 10 minutes away by car!
