What to Read During Quarantine!

Goooood morning! Today I just wanted to share a few books that I’ve read and enjoyed. 🙂 These are all fictional novels that I’ve really enjoyed. I’ve been reading SO much lately and it’s been really relaxing for me, so I hope you find one that you’ll enjoy!

1. The Couple Next Door

I literally read this book in one day! It was a travel day, so I had a lot of time on my hands haha. It was extremely intriguing.. it begins with a couple at dinner party. After their baby sitter cancelled, they decided to leave their baby at home, while agreeing to check on her every 30 minutes. By then end of their dinner party, they discover that the baby is missing… and we delve into the mystery of what happened. Highly recommend!

2. The Last Mrs. Parrish

Liv Constantine is SUCH a good writer! This was another one I just couldn’t put down. The story is told from two different perspectives – Amber, who is single and striving for a good man with money, and Daphne, who seems to have it all with her rich husband and enviable social life. It was an unexpected story that kept me on my toes.

3. Something in the Water

Out of all the books I’m sharing today, THIS was my favorite! It definitely didn’t end how I thought it would. But I loved the writing style and the unexpected twists and turns. It begins with a crazy-in-love couple going to Bora Bora for their honeymoon. After surviving a dangerous tropical storm, they make a decision that will change their lives forever… It’s a must read.

4. Summer of ’69

This one is about a family who spends their summers on Nantucket in their old school grandmother’s home. I actually loved learning about what life was like in 1969. The story is told from multiple perspectives – from the 13 year daughter who feels like she doesn’t belong, the mother that uses alcohol as a crutch just a little too much, the 22 year old daughter pregnant with twins who desperately misses working and leaving the house, and many more. I learned a lot and it was a fun read.

5. Little Fires Everywhere

The book is better than the show. 😉 This tale is set in Shaker Heights, a suburb of Cleveland, full of perfect, successful, & rich people. It’s a book about class, high school, a mother’s right to her baby, and so much more. I fell in love with the story of the high schoolers, but it also made me think. A Chinese women left her her baby outside a fire station one freezing night because she couldn’t feed or take care of her. After a year, she decides she wants the baby back, after the baby has been adopted by a well-to-do family in the area. Should the Chinese women get her baby back? Lots of good discussions to be had regarding this book. 🙂

That’s all for today! I loved sharing this post.. would y’all be interested in another?! I have definitely upped my reading game during quarantine, and I have a lot more I’d like to share with y’all.

Have a great rest of your weekend!
