My Vision for Our New Home

Welllll if you haven’t seen on my instagram yet, WE HAVE A NEW HOUSE! We’ve officially owned it for almost 2 months now and we’re deep in the renovations. The drywallers are done, flooring is scheduled to be installed next week (!!!) and although the to-do list is a mile long, it’s SO FUN! 🙂

I thought it’d be fun to share my vision for our new home. Our last fixer upper’s design was very beachy, almost minimalistic with lots of blues and calming greys. I’m fairly certain we’re headed down the same path with this house! Blues, greys, and neutrals have always been my favorites when it comes to home decor, and I think they’ll go well with the white oak flooring we’re having installed.

First up is our living room! It has a great layout – I just want to change up the look of the fireplace, rework the shelves on either side, and maybe add some faux beams. I’ve always wanted faux beams on my living room ceiling – they just add so much character.

The kitchen layout is still up in the air, but we’re excited about our potential color scheme. We loved the quartz counters from our old kitchen so much, we want to use them in this kitchen! (They’re called Pietra by Silestone, if you’re curious.) For this kitchen design, since the space gets so much natural light, we’re comfortable using a darker color for the cabinets. As much as I love a light and bright kitchen, I really feel like this space would look amazing with dark cabinets! And the counters will always brighten the kitchen up!

Redoing the stairs will make the entryway feel sooo different! And I can’t wait haha! The existing stair treads are a little beat up, so we may end up replacing them further down the road. We’ll have to see if we can find a stair tread that we can stain to match our new hardwood floors. Until then, I love the idea of just painting the stairs white and adding a runner, in which case I’d go ahead and paint the existing railing black.

The idea of adding wall paper to our entryway makes me SO HAPPY! I absolutely love the color scheme below.. it’s so calming and soothing and pretty. It’s a project for further down the road, but I think it has a lot of potential.

Finally our master bathroom: it needs a lot of work. But… it has a lot of potential. 🙂 We’re thinking of adding a freestanding tub, shortening the full height shower wall to a half wall with glass, and adding a glass shower door. It needs new flooring, mirrors, and lighting, but we’ll most likely keep the layout the same. Keeping existing bathroom or kitchen layouts while remodeling is a great way to save money!

There’s so much more I want to share with you guys, but I’ll stop here for now haha! Hopefully I have good news + pictures to share next week once our new carpet is installed!

Have a great weekend!
