Wood and White Kitchen: Transitional Farmhouse Before & Afters

Today I’m sharing all the links for our wood, white and black kitchen renovation! I call this style “Transitional Farmhouse.” Is that a thing?! I love the farmhouse fad, but I also love more modern and coastal design aspects. I wanted to keep some wood tones here while making it feel modern, clean, and functional at the same time.

Dimensions:

  • Ceiling Height: 9′-0″
  • Width: ~9′-0″
  • Length: ~17′-0″
  • Island Cabinets: 2′-0″ x 4′-0″

We decided to take down a wall that would really limit our kitchen design. This meant that we’d lose our main floor laundry / mud room, but it was tiny anyways, and the space really feels bigger now that that wall is down. In our case it was non-load bearing (yay!) and 100% the right move!

The Details:

Kraftmaid Cabinets:

These are from Home Depot! Ellery style. Uppers are White Dove. Lowers are Distressed Husk stain on Maple wood. The wood type is important here because the stain will look different depending on the type of wood.

Quartz Counters:

Calacatta style quartz from a local supplier outside of Knoxville

Flooring:

French Oak Hardwood in Point Reyes by Malibu Wide Plank. I HIGHLY recommend these floors. They are so durable and have really done well against our toddler and dog! We hired Home Depot to install these for us. They are the perfect neutral blond without pulling orange.

Appliances:

  • Refrigerator: Stainless steel by Samsung
  • Range Hood: Black by Zline – I did NOT buy the extender kit!
  • Range: Stainless steel by Samsung
  • Microwave: Stainless steel drawer style by Sharp – I love this one so much!!!
  • Dishwasher: Stainless steel by Samsung

One design question for you: Should I paint the white door Cracked Pepper to match the rest of the doors in the house? I can’t decide if it would be too harsh or not!! Let me know what you think!
