Summer Style + Making Time for Friends

Haaappy Monday y’all! Question: How often do you really get to hang out with your friends? I feel like once we enter the working world, it’s a little bit harder to really make time for the people that matter in our lives. (Why can’t we still have scheduled playdates?! ha!)

BUT in all seriousness, we need to have those fun, genuine, social interactions on the regular. Those times where you just go out with your girls (and/or guys), get a drink, and have a good old time. Can you imagine how boring life would be if we never got to just talk, hang out and get to know the people in our lives better? It would be boring AF!!!  Zero fun sir! (any Remember the Titans fans out there??) Okay.. moving on.

I never realized how social of a person I was until I got my first “real world” job in Boulder. When I moved here I knew absolutely nobody. #YOLO! I only knew my roommates and my coworkers… and in total that was about 15 people. Long story short, I quickly realized how important it is to cherish the people in my everyday life! I truly believe that God puts certain people in your life for a reason, and regardless of if it’s your boss, your future husband, or just a friend that you only know for six months, we should love them!

This message is a little different than normal, but recently I reconnected with a friend that I haven’t talked to in a while. After having great discussion and laughing nonstop, I realized how much I missed just laughing with her.

So I have challenge for you!!! Yes YOU!

I challenge you to do one of the following this week…

Reach out to a girlfriend that you miss and do something together! Like..

Treat her to lunch or coffee.

Meet at your favorite park for a walk or run.

Grab a marg and some tacos.. cause errybody loves tacos! (and margs hehe)

Get a group together and go bowling!

Head to your favorite hiking trail and spend time in nature together.

Go shopping!!! It’s just fun.

Have a chick flick + junk food night (Gilmore Girls, anyone?!)

If she lives out of town, call her and ask about her life. Just let her talk and vent!

Okay, moving onto my favorite summer outfit! As a Tennesseean, I’ve always loved cut offs, and this pair just fits so well. They’re not ridiculously short, and the rise is perfect for me (I like mid rise for my cut offs.) Recently, I’ve been into oversized tops like this one. IMO, off the shoulder tops are so flattering, and I love how this one hangs! Check out this post for another top that I’ve been wearing on repeat lately!

I’m always on the hunt for fun, summery bags this time of year, and I love the size of this one! It’s cute enough to take out to dinner, but durable enough to take to the beach. i.e. it’s quality material that won’t let sand in!

As always, thank you so much for reading! Hope your week is off to a great start!

xoxo liz

For reference, I’m wearing a size 26 in the shorts and xs in the top.

  1. Yes, a great reminder to cherish those friendships! I can be so hard moving to a city not knowing anyone! We did the same moving to Denver! Will definitely schedule a girls night this week, Liz!
