Kitchen Update – We Have Countertops!

FINALLY. We have countertops! 🙂 This has been a long awaited day. Check out our kitchen before pics HERE. It took a while for us to decide on the exact countertops we wanted. We went back and forth on whether or not to have the island and the wall counters be the same. (We ended up getting two different countertops.)

It’s a tough decision because it’s so difficult to picture the countertops in your own home. BUT on the other hand, it’s fun to look at all the options and talk things out. Although I absolutely love Carrera marble, we went with granite because there’s no way I would be able to keep marble clean haha. I spill WAY too much coffee every morning for that haha. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Instead, we went with granite… we thought it would be best for resale, too.

We still have a to-do list:

  • install dishwasher (see that hole to the left of the sink?)
  • decide on backsplash (!!!)
  • add a runner rug
  • sand & stain our wood barstools (color TBD)
  • buy a range hood

Here’s a close up of the two different countertops…

The island is called “Statuario” It’s kind of hard to tell in the pictures, but is does have faint grey veining. It’s called that because it looks like the statues from the Roman era (at least that’s what our kitchen designer told us haha.)

The countertops along the wall are “Pietra” and I loooove the veining in these. We almost wish we would have gotten Pietra for the island too.. but I think we’ll come to appreciate the simplicity of Statuario!

Sooo now we need to choose a backsplash! I’m leaning towards a pale blue tile, but there are so many options. Here’s a few that have caught my eye…

I’m drawn to the chevron pattern!

What do y’all think about the accent tile above the stove?! I’m into it!

We still have a lot of work to do, but it feels good to have the major items checked off the to-do list. Hope y’all have a Merry Christmas! Lucy says Merry Christmas too 😉

xoxo liz
