The hardwood floors are DONE!

Woop woop! I have been waiting for this day ever since we bought our home! The hardwood was installed last Friday and we are in love haha. SO much has been done to our house in the past month – popcorn ceilings scraped, walls removed, electrical work done, and now flooring (the big kahuna) is DONE! It’s amazing how much flooring can change an entire house. It feels totally different now. And it feels so GOOD!

Yes, the stairs are still the original [bright orange] hardwood. Long term, we may end up replacing the treads and railing completely. I love the look of an iron railing! That being said, realistically my short term plan is to paint the treads and risers white, paint the railing black (I think?), and add a runner – more on that later. I really think paint is a great option for the stairs right now.

As a mom to a 10 month old, I am VERY happy to have all new flooring. Ben just started crawling like a madman and pulling up on everything, so it’s reassuring to have clean new floors throughout (we put new carpet upstairs and in the basement).

The flooring we went with is French Oak Point Reyes solid hardwood from Home Depot. I love how they look. They’re a bit warmer than white oak hardwood but they don’t pull orange or red at all. They’re just beautiful and they brighten up the whole house! ๐Ÿ™‚

We have an appointment with our kitchen designer this Saturday and hopefully we’ll be ordering cabinets soon. I can’t believe I just typed that!!! Haha I’m very excited to start the kitchen and can’t wait to share it all with you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy JULY!!!
