Kitchen Update! Our Backsplash + Grout Color

Helllooooo! How in the world have I not shared our backsplash on here yet?! We spent a good amount of time deciding on what we wanted, and then we REALLY took our time choosing a grout color.

[check out what our kitchen looked like without the backsplash here]

We considered so many different tiles.. here are a few that I really liked:

Even thought I did like the tiles above, I felt like they would make the space too dark. After exhausting all of Home Depot’s options, we headed to Floor & Decor, which had so many more tiles to choose from! We lucked out and found a subway tile that was almost the exact same color as our island (which is Rocky Mountain sky by Behr).

Funny story about the tile we chose.. it was almost all out of stock, and it was on super sale. Luckily there was enough in stock to cover our walls, but we had to have it shipped from multiple states, and the shipping ended up costing us more than the actual tile did! I think the tile was around $120 total, and with shipping our backsplash cost about $300.

We sure did take our time deciding what grout color we wanted! I’d say we lived with the backsplash un-grouted for a month or so before we finally made the decision. At first I kept trying to convince Ryan (my husband) that we should just use a white grout. We laid a few tiles on cardboard so we could test out different grout colors and hold it up against the wall.

Once I saw white grout with the light blue tile, I realized it looked like something you’d see in a bathroom! We quickly vetoed white grout and ended up choosing pewter, and I think it compliments the veining in our wall countertops really well.

I absolutely LOVE how the eucalyptus garland looks around our window! I took my time finding the perfect garland and this one is such great quality! The branches are really full and the color is perfect. I think it’s also a nice alternative to curtains. We installed blinds for privacy at night, so we didn’t really need curtains anyways.

Our house’s theme is “modern farmhouse meets beach.” I really love how the color scheme of our kitchen turned out! Since this was our first kitchen remodel, it was hard for me to picture how it would all come together, but.. it all worked out!
